Welcome to Sparks of Life. I’m so glad you’re here. Whether this is your first or fortieth time visiting, I’m grateful to share this little corner of the web with you. When the world feels chaotic, my hope is that we can commune in this creative space and cultivate moments that are rich with meaning.

About Me

I’m Lauren Sheehey — a writer, a painter, a brand director, and a copy strategist. I’m an embodied healing practitioner, a mother, a daughter, and a wife. I’m a lot of things, and I’m also so totally still trying to figure our myself and this life. As anyone would attest, the journey never truly ends. Instead, it feels as though we are constantly winding and weaving through new seasons, challenging chapters, and surprising plot twists. And well, we are.

If I had to pick just one prevailing lesson from all of this journeying around, I would say this: Life is rather un-figure-out-able. It will always unfold in new directions and take on new shapes, but its meaning is never lost. Even in the madness and mayhem, there are sparks of special stuff.

About Sparks of Life

My writing has always focused on meaning-making. Some days, a spark of creative inspiration hits when I’m strolling through familiar aisles at the grocery store; or when I’m singing off-key, entirely made-up lullabies to my daughter; or when I’m hiking along the Rocky Mountain trails that I’m lucky enough to call home. Prior to starting Substack, I shared these musings on my Instagram account, early blog, and old email list.

Sure, it worked for a while; but as someone who has since fully dedicated herself to living a more authentically creative life, curated squares and infrequent emails miss the mark. So, I found myself here.

With verbal and visual storytelling, my intention is to offer prompts, spark emotions, and welcome memories. I am not here to tell you how to find meaning or what meaning is to be found. Instead, my writing is merely a branch to and bridge through your own unique process.

First and foremost, Sparks of Life is a flurry of feelings. My own and the universal. Expect to find notes of acceptance, connection, creativity, curiosity, embodiment, identity, intuition, mindfulness, mothering, presence, recovery, self-compassion, self-expression, self-trust, surrender, willingness, and vitality.

What else can you expect to find here?

This will be a space to engage with my writing off of social media, away from analytics that can at times detract from the message. You’ll find short stories, essays, poetry, advice, lists, links, resources, prompts, art, and other forms of creative expression aimed at bringing us closer to personal and collective meaning-making. You’ll also find a community of others partaking in this wild and winding journey called life. Every Sunday, at minimum, you’ll receive an essay in your inbox.

Why pay for my writing?

In two simple words: energetic reciprocity.

For paid subscribers, your monthly contribution to my work supports my long-term, sustainable, creative output. It pays for the time I invest into this each week, as well as the additional energy I pour into research, editing, answering questions, gathering resources, and cultivating this communal container. Paid subscribers also support me in offering no-cost subscriptions to those who cannot currently afford to financially invest, which fosters greater accessibility (and karma). As a paid subscriber, you’ll get access to community threads, audio recordings, q&a’s, and journaling guides.

If being a paid subscriber isn’t for you at this time, you can still access my Tuesday Letters each week.

Subscription Options:

$0/Mo: Occasional Essays

$5/Mo or $50/year: Weekly essays, community threads, audio recordings with musings/q&a, journaling guides, my deepest gratitude, and anything else that comes up.

$100/year: Founding Member — everything above, plus boundless love, appreciation, and good juju.

Thank you so much for being here! I’m eager to connect with you.
